After hundreds of you joined BikeRadar for a group workout on Zwift recently we have decided to up the ante this month with a BikeRadar Mission.

Your new mission, should you choose to accept it, is to complete a BikeRadar group workout, a BikeRadar group ride and a BikeRadar race on Zwift within three weeks for a chance to win some swag. The grand prize is a Zwift Setup including a CycleOps Hammer smart trainer, a 40in Samsung 4K TV and an Apple TV 4K.

Get Fit Together with the BikeRadar Zwift Mission

If you are familiar with Zwift, you know there are multiple ways to engage with the online training software. You can just jump in and freeride, but you can also join races, group rides and group workouts.

Zwift recently started doing Missions, which are similar to Strava Challenges. And our mission — Get Fit Together — is to complete three group activities within three weeks. Get Fit Together runs until Wednesday 28 February.

Every day there will be three Get Fit Together BikeRadar Mission events, with one each for North American, Australian/Asian and European time zones.

When you complete all three types of events you'll be entered to win one of nine prize packs from BikeRadar, which include gear from Lezyne and Knog, as well as books such as Etape Tour de France and more.

How group workouts work

If you did a BikeRadar Bangers and Mash workout with us recently, then you know how group workouts work: we all start together and ride together, regardless of differing power outputs.

Unlike normal Zwift riding, where you can accelerate away from or drift back from riders, in group workouts we all stay rubber-banded together as long as you're pedaling.

Also, all the chat you see on screen is from others in the group workout. (Join the chat by pressing M on your keyboard or using the Mobile Link app, where you can type or use talk-to-text.)

Group workouts are usually 60 minutes or less. They are a fun, social way to get in efficient training.

How group rides work

In a group ride we all start together, but it is up to you to stay with the group. Often a ride leader will herd the group along, encouraging the front riders to ease off and the back riders to stay in contact.

As in normal Zwift riding, staying in a group provides the benefit of a draft, making it easier to ride than pedaling along alone.

Group rides are usually for a fixed number of laps, which vary by course. But group rides are normally around an hour long.

How races work

Races are divided into categories based on your FTP. (What is FTP for cycling?) Races go for a set number of laps, which you can see when you sign up, based on the course.

Riders start together and race to the finish.

Warm up before a race — they start fast! Often the first minute or two is basically a sprint, then races will settle in.

As in other parts of Zwift, having a draft helps considerably. Stay right on the wheel in front of you — until the finish!

What is the point of the BikeRadar Mission?

To get fit together! Riding, training and racing together is a whole lot more fun than doing it alone. Plus, you get the chance to win one of nine prize packs plus a full Zwift setup with a TV and smart trainer.

Come join us this month on Zwift and let's get fit together.
