Trek bikes: a brief history
Trek Bikes was founded in 1976 and started out producing steel touring frames in a small shed in Waterloo, Wisconsin (where the brand remains based to this day). Its first mountain bike debuted in 1983, with its first carbon fibre models appearing a few years later. Come the 1990s, Trek expanded into the hybrid bikes and kids’ bikes market.
Trek has also been at the forefront of female-friendly bike design, introducing Women's Specific Design bikes and accessories in 2000, and has long supported women's cycling.
