Is this the ultimate winter bike?

A look at Jack's 'Do Everything' All-City Mr Pink long-termer

The All-City Mr Pink is Jack's 2019 long-term test bike. It's made just the way he likes it; from steel and designed to be a versatile mile munching machine.

The steel frameset is constructed from Columbus's Zona tubing and features a mix of lugged and TIG-welded construction.

The frameset has been paired with high-end finishing kit from Thomson and Brooks. The drivetrain is a combination of Shimano 105 R7000 shifters and derailleurs alongside a White Industries Variable Bolt Circle R30 crankset with a 44/32 chainring combination — for now at least.

Jack has opted for stock, dynamo-hub-equipped Halo Evaura wheels, and in true winter hack spirit he matches them with 45mm Velo Orange hammered alloy mudguards in a smart black finish.

The size of the guards ensures plenty of room for wide tyres, as well as any winter muck, but comes at the cost of being able to run standard Shimano 105 R7000 brake calipers. Instead, Jack has opted for Velo Orange's Gran Cru Long Reach brakes, which allow clearances for the massive mudguards.

Jack has already spent plenty of time aboard it, so find out in this first instalment, of what is a long-term ride for Jack, if he and his Mr Pink are going to get along well in 2019.

Jack will also have a detailed first look of the bike and images online soon.
