With the Tour de France kicking off in just a couple of weeks, brands are beginning to push out their special edition gear to celebrate the Grand Départ.

French outfit Look Cycles is joining the party with its limited-edition TDF Keo Blade Carbon Ceramic pedals.

Nine teams will be riding the new pedals at this year's Tour, which have been upgraded with ceramic bearings, claimed to offer an 18 percent reduction in friction and more than double the bearing life.

Look says each bearing is protected by a double lipped seal that offers ingress protection ratings of IPX7 and IPX6 for the respective seals.

The standard Chromoly axle has also been upgraded to titanium, which Look says shaves 15g off the pedal, making for a feathery 95g per side.

According to Look the pedal is built around an oversized axle and spindle that passes through an internal roller and ceramic bearings located directly under the pedal platform. The distance between the roller and ceramic bearings has been increased by 25 percent, which it claims provides more rigidity along the entire length of the spindle and improved power transmission.

Using a leaf spring for cleat retention, the yellow and black TDF pedal is set to come with both 12 and 16Nm release tension carbon blades.

Look says it will make just 1,700 sets of the TDF pedals which will cost €290.90, with a mass-produced version becoming available later this year. International pricing is yet to be announced.
