Our review
Madison's Stealth glasses offer a winning balance of performance and price

Pros:

Value for money; three lenses; easy to switch lenses

Cons:

Not as secure as some

The Madison Stealth 3-pack sunglasses feature three changeable lenses for a relatively low price.

An update on the previous Stealth design, switching between those three lenses is straightforward.

Although the contrast can’t compete with some more expensive lenses, the Stealth sunglasses offer good performance without costing too much money.

Madison’s Stealth glasses have seen a revamp from the previous design. Out goes the smaller frost-edged lens to be replaced by a larger version with brow vents.

The Stealth’s frameless design remains. The lenses clip directly into the hinged arms and the hooked edge of the lens fits into the angled slot in the arm, locking it in place.

The Stealth sunglasses weigh 34.4g and can be bought for as little as £39.99 if you opt for a single-lens version.

This 3-pack variant represents outstanding value at £69.99 when you consider it comes with a proper hard case, three lenses and a cleaning bag.

The Stealth is also compatible with RX prescription inserts thanks to its bolt-in nose piece (available separately for £4.99).

All three polycarbonate lenses meet ISO 12312 standards and all offer UV-A and UV-B protection.

The lens is 65mm at its deepest, and provides the grip tension to hold the glasses on your head.

The flexibility of the lens means it can expand out from around 120mm wide to nearly 150mm, so it’s well suited to a wide variety of riders' head sizes.

Madison Stealth 3-pack performance

The Stealths held in place well on my head, but like other frameless designs such as the 100% Hypercraft or Tifosi Brixen, these are more suited to smooth road rides than rutted rougher gravel riding or mountain biking.

The lens is a flat shield design with no vertical curve, but there’s no distortion even at the edges.

The TR-90 thermoplastic arms have plenty of flex and are tipped with rubber covers that provide enough purchase even when damp from perspiration or rain.

The main sun lens (a gold-mirror Cat 3) works in the sunniest conditions, although the contrast isn’t as strong as either Oakley’s Prizm or Koo’s Zeiss Optics lenses.

That said, both of those lenses come in sunglasses that are multiple times the price of the Stealth.

The second lens is clear for night riding, while the third is a high-contrast orange-tinted lens for low-light dull days.

Lens changes are easy thanks to the comprehensive instructions included.

It's simply a case of holding the lens and with the other hand angling the arm upwards, popping the lens tabs from the sockets in the arm. Replacement is the reverse of this.

The Madison Stealth 3-pack glasses deliver excellent value and perform well on the road.

If you’re looking for prescription-compatible cycling sunglasses, the Stealths are one of the most affordable options that look good and perform well too.
