Not a bad pack, but just a little off the pace in terms of outright fit compared to some of the others

Oakley works hard to make its non-eyewear products technical, sometimes to the detriment of usability. Thankfully that’s not the case with the Tool Pocket.

The heavy-duty Cordura and rip stop nylon construction with heavy nylon webbing straps and chunky plastic buckles could easily pass as military spec.

Smartly, Oakley knows when to hire in expertise so its 2-litre, reversible (easier to clean) bladder is made by Hydrapak. The 90-degree bite valve isn’t adjustable but it does have a non-drip lock.

Apart from the main compartment there are two internal pockets, key fob and pump loop. On the outside is an inner tube-sized zip pocket with two small mesh sub dividers. There’s a helmet holder too, but it doesn’t hold helmets very well and we’d prefer a larger Lycra pocket here instead.

The pack fits reasonably well without too much fussing with straps and delivers all you need from a small, short ride pack.
