We were initially sceptical about the suspended back on the Cluster Air – but once we loaded up for the day, we were happily surprised. It’s easy to adjust the balance between the shoulder straps and hip belt to fit the mesh plate against your back, and the padded curves that rest in the small of your back mean there’s no discomfort at all.
Every manufacturer is trying to find ways to keep you cooler, but we found that this method, which holds the pack off your back, makes a real difference. What’s more the suspension doesn’t result in a pack that moves – true, it doesn’t mould to your body in the same way as the CamelBak Octane, but it doesn’t go its own way either.
You also get some good extra features in the detachable helmet holder, zipped expansion bellows and tuck away rain cover. Ultimately, if a sweaty back is your main concern, then the Cluster Air is a recommended try out.
