Our review
Best suited to racers, not all-day riders, but the fit, adjustability and external storage options are great

Pros:

Supportive straps and lots of adjustment mean the fit is spot-on; storage is well organised with easy-to-access zip compartments and stowage for open and full-face lids; slim profile is great for racing

Cons:

Some extra cargo space that can be cinched down when not in use would improve the BE2’s versatility

Ergon's BE2 is an enduro-focused pack that has minimal storage space but loads of adjustability and was developed in conjunction with former professional downhill mountain biker Fabien Barel

Its 6.5l capacity is split into top and bottom zipped pockets, with a cutout in the middle that’ll securely hold open and full-face helmets via removable straps.

While useful, this really eats into the storage space – once you’ve filled the 1.5l bladder and put a few tools and snacks in, it’s almost full.

Running along the full length is a 17.5mm-thick foam spine protector. There are also external straps for carrying knee pads.

The BE2 comes in two sizes (Small: height up to 175 cm and clothing size XS–M; Large; height over 175 cm and clothing size M–XXL) and has a four-position back length adjuster, designed to ensure the weight stays low on your hips. Combined with the wide Velcro waist strap, sternum strap and free-rotating D-ring buckles on the shoulders, this makes it comfy and steadfast.

Big airflow channels in the padding and ultra-slim shoulder straps mean it doesn’t get too sweaty.

The HydraPak bladder is well integrated, sitting low and with a quick-release hose clip for easy filling. Helpfully, its twist-lock bite valve can be secured on either side of the pack.

At 975g, the BE2 is heavier than average, but with good weight distribution and a slim profile it won’t hold you back.

The price tag is high, but the design and implementation make it worth it.
