While it's ideally suited to lugging around the race circuit in the boot of your car, the Event Bag proved to be more than sturdy enough to survive a rough-and-tumble trip through an airport baggage handling process.
Having been subjected to four flights and thrown around the back of a Transit van for eight days in the Alps, the Ventoux came out the other side without a tear or shattered shampoo bottle in sight.
It's ideally suited for race days, however. Its 60L volume is split into several compartments. You get the main body for bigger items such as shoes, helmet and clothing, plus two zipped, coolbag-lined pockets on either side, which will fit four 750ml water bottles plus food and ice packs. Two outer front pockets offer space for everything from multi-tools to inner tubes.
An effective, large waterproof pocket on the rear allows you to stuff in your sweaty post-race clothing, while a zipped pouch on the inside is great for entry forms, passports and other documentation.
The Ventoux is perfectly at home on its travels – small enough to be slung over your shoulder and be taken on as hand luggage with most airlines, although it's always worth checking restrictions before you leave home. If you're going to check it into the hold at the airport, avoid putting fragile items in the front pockets, as they don't offer great protection.
The colour scheme may mean some don't think it's the best-looking bag on the market, but its £50 price tag makes it well worth a punt.
