Super bright headtorch that's as much light as you need for most riding

Seventy quid is a lot of headtorch; without patronising your local hardcore caving store you'd be hard pressed to pay more. What you get for your money though is the excellent 3W Luxeon LED built into a tilting head unit and powered by four AA batteries attached to a good strap.

It's comfortable enough in use, and will stretch round a lid too with its silicone grippers holding it in place. There are three power settings; the two energy saving ones make the unit buzz a bit, but conserve a lot of power and are fine for most night time tasks. The full power setting is nice and bright, enough light to ride at a fair lick in the dark and all the more usable for being a directable beam. The batteries last for ages, but there's a 4xC cell hopper included too if you need more burn time. Great for touring or night rides, and really useful as an extra beam for off-road excursions.
