Light and basic shell that provides the bare minimum of protection

Basic and extremely light, this is more of an emergency windproof than anything else but the dinky dimensions when packed means it can sit quietly in your bag until it’s needed.

A sizeable zipped rear pocket hides a tiny pouch that’s smaller than a tennis ball and is handily attached to the inside of the pocket so it can’t get lost.

Minimal relective details are no substitute for adequate lighting but help out in a pinch, and although the ripstop polyester fabric buckles under anything more than a sprinkling of rain, it’s windproof, highly breathable and more resistant to abuse than appearances suggest.

The cut is good and long with plenty of lower back coverage, although the neck is restrictively tight when closed and allows for no more than a thin layer underneath.

A full stretch mesh back panel and elastic bound hems top off the sort of jacket that’s ready to take the edge off sudden changes in the weather.
