Our review
Top quality, luxurious wool that proves its worth over time

Howies NBL base layers have been responsible for much of the recent woolly renaissance. This top uses 100 per cent MAPP (Merino Advance d Performance Programme) wool, which is the finest fleece to come off a New Zealand sheep's back. It feels like silk on your skin and it's stretchy enough for the slim cut to give an excellent fit.

It shifts sweat and dries pretty quickly, but still manages the woolly trick of retaining warmth when wet. The sleeves and body are long enough and the half zip gives useful ventilation or seals the tall collar when it's breezy. From experience, the top is really durable, as long as you don't snag it. It doesn't stink either, which makes the steep price a better bet over time.
