Nike Women's Thermal Windproof jersey review

It's usually the wind rather than the cold that really gets to you on a winter's ride - and going faster just makes the sting worse. This Nike jersey aims to combat that, with its thermal insulation.

A favourite jersey/jacket to keep the wind off on a dry, winter weather ride

It's usually the wind rather than the cold that really gets to you on a winter's ride - and going faster just makes the sting worse. This Nike jersey aims to combat that, with its thermal insulation and added strategic windproof panels across the upper chest, arms and back. The rest of the outer isn't windproof, allowing moisture to escape, and on the inside there's an inviting, brushed fleecy surface that's soft next to the skin providing heat-trapping insulation where it's needed.

The jersey is actually more like a jacket, with a full front zip and windproof storm flap. The cut is Nike's'pro fit', but it's not tight or restrictive, so the jersey can easily take layers underneath. Overall the proportions are great, with amply long sleeves and a longer back. Cuffs aren't elasticated and the hem is open at the bottom so a breeze can come in - which is actually quite welcome on a hard ride. It features highly visible reflective strips, three really good-sized pockets and a small zippered pocket too.
