Comfortable fitting tights with a water repellant membrane that works. Zipped ankle cuffs and minimal reflectives are drawbacks

Like many full winter tights the Spiuk’s use classic Super Roubaix fabric throughout. It’s a thin fleece backed but very dense weave that offers great defence against cold weather. Where Spiuk have been clever is to add a highly water repellant membrane on the major forward facing panels. Ride in a shower and you can see the water beading up on the thigh sections, simply give the fabric a quick ‘ping’ and it's shaken off.

The design has some nice touches too with all the major seams flat locked and double stitched. With these also being placed away from potential friction points it makes for a very comfortable fit. Spiuk use their Elite gel pad, it's nicely slim in size with pronounced thick gel pads; these have a great elastic stretch to form fit, but still occasionally got a slight squirmy feeling as the gel moved around. The bib section is full backed, but with a mesh material which helps keep your body dry without being overly warm. Wide two and a half inch braces are highly elastic so fit your form ideally.

There is little in the way of reflectives bar two small Spiuk logos on the thighs. The ankle cuffs have very gummy silicon grippers and a zip. Whilst we didn’t have any issues with them staying in place, in the depths of winter our preference is still for a foot stirrup to close out all of the cold air.
