Looking like a Chorus crankset and weighing almost exactly the same as the 2008 Chorus too, the main difference is Centaur's steel rather than aluminium chainring bolts. It features the Ultra-Torque system where the bottom bracket axle joins in the middle via a toothed interface held together with one bolt, and has a mix of unidirectional and multidirectional composite fibres in its construction.
The installation is straightforward enough, although you will need a short extension bar and a torque wrench to do it properly. The chainrings feature typical Campy profile teeth (nice and deep and hence long lasting) with additional shifting pins to help pick the chain up onto the outer ring. The stated Q-Factor (distance between the outside face of both cranks) was 145.5mm, but actually measured 145.2mm. All in all a stiff feeling crankset with buttery smooth bearings and clean crisp shifting, but it begs the question, why buy Chorus? An aluminium version is available for £119.99.
