Good looking and solid underfoot, but not light for the price

FSA's SL-K crankset sits between their alloy Afterburner and flagship carbon fibre K-Force Light, and it’s a good looking, carbon/alloy hybrid with lots of options.

The broad unidirectional carbon arms are wrapped around an alloy core, which also carries the pedal threads. The BB30 version then gets a big fat alloy axle through the centre for stiffness, although the chromoly-axled versions are solid underfoot too.

There are red, blue or white decal options to match your bike and they last better cosmetically over time than most black alloy sets, though we’re still talking weeks rather than months. Chainrings last okay and while they were shocking at first, FSA’s bottom brackets are now on-par for longevity. The SK-K isn't light given the cost, though.
