Non-slip, classy-looking two-tone tape

Handlebar tape is an easy and relatively inexpensive way of giving your tired-looking bike a facelift. This two-tone tape from Velo certainly offers a slick look while helping to keep weight down.

It has an almost rubbery outer that provides a really good non-slip surface, which should please those that prefer not to use gloves, especially on hot days. Each of the two coloured strips are neatly stitched to the padded sticky base, giving it an air of class.

And while it might be called lightweight, it's by no means ultra thin and uncomfortable like tape used to be back in the day. There's certainly plenty of shock absorption, although those who suffer from numb hands or ulnar problems might want to look at Velo's gel version.

Fitting couldn't be easier, although be careful not to pull the sticky back strip off the bar tape when starting out. Other colours and versions are available including a very trendy-looking carbon finish.
