Our review
An off-roading saddle that’ll keep your posterior dry even in the wettest conditions

Pros:

Comfortable shape; padding; all-weather

Cons:

A tad weighty

The idea of ‘gravel’ specific often means an olive green colourway or a bit of camouflage in the finishing. Thankfully that’s not the case with Fizik’s Terra Argo.

Fizik has taken its popular Argo short saddle back to the drawing board and introduced a host of features that increase its off-road credentials.

Most importantly, the profile has changed. The Terra has a much more defined ‘wave’ to its short 270mm length, which helps you sit planted in an almost fixed position.

This is critical to getting the best from the Terra and, thankfully, Fizik has moulded a handy marker 75mm from the nose of the saddle enabling you to line the saddle up perfectly on setup.

While you are fixed in position you can shift your weight forward up onto the nose when riding hard and the gravel-friendly padding offers super levels of forgiving comfort.

That’s enhanced by the hull, which is noticeably more compliant than Fizik’s standard version, with the wings of the saddle’s haunches being made of a highly flexible rubber-like material.

This softer approach makes for excellent damping yet the saddle never feels unstable. This is thanks to the Mobius rail that uses one piece of tube folded and shaped from nose to tail (where it loops around the perimeter) and back to the nose once more.

The final piece of the gravel puzzle will be most welcome to UK riders with the deep relief channel having a rubber insert to stop splashes from soaking your nether regions. Cleverly, the insert has a forward-facing, angled vent that acts as a drain should rainwater collect from the top when riding in adverse weather or parking the bike outside.

The Terra is a very well thought-out saddle for gravel riders, or indeed for any endurance cyclist who is looking for a more comfortable short pew that performs well in all weathers.

In this, the least expensive model, the 252.2g weight is decent considering the levels of comfort it offers but might be a tad weighty for some.

The Terra is available as a 150mm wide (tested) saddle and in a wider 160mm version, plus a lighter X3 version with a titanium Mobius rail for £129.99.
