Commuting in winter can be tough: bad weather, traffic, darkness and plenty of other artificial light sources to compete with. To make things tougher, Bell Helmets challenged BikeRadar to test its new Formula LED helmet on an extreme overnight commute.
By extreme, we mean 240km, overnight from our office in Bristol to the head office in West London in time for an important meeting.
Taking on the challenge were videographers Joe Norledge and Reuben Bakker-Dyos (familiar faces from the Hill Climb Diaries) who are no strangers to long distance riding and always up for an adventure.
The Bell helmet in question has a number of features designed for extra safety and visibility on the road, including a rear LED light which offers a claimed 20 lumen output and a run time of two hours on steady or an impressive 10 hours on flash mode — hopefully enough time to complete the challenge!
Will the LED lights in the helmet last the journey? Will they succumb to hallucinations as a result of sleep deprivation? Will it rain? Are they prepared?
You'll have to watch the video to find out.
