The new line of road shoes from Italian saddle manufacturer fi’zi:k, which BikeRadar took a look at during last year’s Eurobike, have gone on sale.

The R1 and R3 models, in development for the last two years, are handmade in Italy and were unveiled by BMC’s Alessandro Ballan – wearing the black R1 – during the recent Milan-San Remo one-day race.

The men’s R1 Uomo (£300/$400) is claimed to weigh 273 grams (size 43), with the men's R3 Uomo (£220/$300) coming in at a lighter 258 grams for the same size. The women's R3 Donna (£220/$300) weighs 206 grams for a size 38.5. The R1 comes in midnight black, while the R3 is available in Racing Red for men and Pure White for women. Only the R3 Uomo is currently on sale in the UK; the other models will hit shelves on 15 April. The full range is already available in the US.

The man behind the shoes development, Steve Delacruz, said. "The roots of the fi’zi:k collection are the history of quality and craftsmanship of Italian shoemaking. They represent our high standards of attention to detail, materials and technology, but ultimately, the shoes represent respect for refined Italian styling. This sets them apart from all other high performance shoes on the market.”

They certainly look the part, and we'll be getting them in for a thorough testing soon. For more on the new range, visit www.fizik.com/shoes.
