You’d be forgiven for not knowing that Trek has released its first e-road bike, because it hasn’t exactly shouted about it. The Domane+ promises all the comforts associated with the brand’s endurance range, plus a whole host of other features.

The Domane is Trek’s endurance model, designed to maximise comfort over long distances. This means a more relaxed geometry and vibration damping technology.
The Domane+ is no different.
At £5,000 / $7,000 it’s currently the only model in Trek's e-road lineup. It comes in a frame size range from 52 to 60cm, accommodating riders from 162–191cm tall. A 56cm Domane+ is claimed to weigh 17.19kg.

Being Trek’s first e-road bike, the Domane+ comes packed with new features not yet seen in the Domane range, as well as a familiar favourite — the IsoSpeed decoupler.
Bosch Performance Speed motor
The Domane+ is equipped with a Bosch Performance Speed motor and a fully integrated but removable 500Wh battery.
Its claimed maximum speed and mileage varies between the US and UK due to differing laws and restrictions. But in the US, the Domane+ is claimed to sustain its maximum speed of 28mph and travel up to 70 miles on a single charge. In the UK this is a claimed 15.5mph with 62 miles in the battery.
Either way, for many it’s sure to open some doors.
SRAM Force 1
The Domane+ comes equipped with a 1x11 SRAM Force 1 drivetrain with a wide-range 11-36 cassette and SRAM Force flat mount hydraulic disc brakes. This hints at the possibilities of the Domane+ being designed for more than just on-road riding, and gives it more all-road potential. Which leads to...
Some smaller features that spell out potential all-road readiness for the Domane+ include the inclusion of gravel-oriented Schwalbe G-One Allround tyres and a maximum tire clearance of up to 35c, which is a step up from previous Domane models.
This could mean more capabilities off-road (to an extent) and exploration potential for the rider.
Trek’s IsoSpeed decoupler is a vibration-damping technology used throughout its Domane range, and the Domane+ has a rear decoupler of its own.
The seat tube sits separately from the top tube and seatstays, allowing it to flex and move autonomously. As Robin Wilmott found when he tested the Trek Domane SLR 9 eTap, this results in a more comfortable ride, with the frame absorbing the bumps from the road.
500 Series OCLV carbon
The Domane+ frame is constructed from Trek’s 500 Series OCLV carbon — not the highest rating in its range, but certainly at a level that is claimed to balance light weight with strength and stiffness. It’s the same level of carbon layup seen on the Domane SL 5.
